Solebury Township Historical Society
Solebury Township's own Historical Society was created in 1981 and is composed of numerous volunteers who devote their time and energy to preserving and researching the borough of Solebury. The Historical Society's headquarters are based in a schoolhouse that dates back to 1755, years after Samuel Eastburn - an English blacksmith - had purchased the property in 1736. Noticing that there was a lack of educational opportunities for children who lived in the surrounding area, Samuel sold half an acre of his property to the Buckingham Friends Meeting where a small, stone schoolhouse was built. The schoolhouse was later named the Center Hill School and actively taught children grades 1 - 8 up until recent years where it now houses the Historical Society's office and research library (which contains history of most of the homes in the area that were built before 1900, as well as township schools records from before 1938).
