Doylestown Historical Society

The Doylestown Historical Society was originally established in 1995 by  founder Judge Ed Ludwig. The Society's main goal after its inception revolved around collecting and preserving artifacts of Doylestown's past, most of which consisted of narratives and stories told by local Doylestown residents that helped bring history alive. Some artifacts included in the Historical Society's collection are a film about a man that lived in Doylestown 100 years ago who became the first person to hike the entire length of The Great Wall of China as well as the diary  of another Doylestown resident who wrote about his experience as a prisoner of war in Germany. Other features listed on the Society's website include the historic buildings of Doylestown such as the Doylestown Inn, Doylestown Agricultural Works, and Hargrave House. Also part of the Society's archived materials are the names of alumni that graduated from the original Doylestown High School between the years of 1892-- 1951. Although the school was destroyed in a fire in 1973, its successor, Central Bucks High School West, was constructed soon after. The Historical Society continues to keep a list of alumni from CB West that spans from 1952 to the present day.
